Coaching
There are a number of great coaching opportunities coming up that we would love to see our parents and volunteers get involved in.
You don't have to be a coach to attend! These courses provide really useful information and practical skills that will help you understand athletics, support your children, and give them some ideas and guidance when they are training or competing.
ASB Run, Jump, Throw & Ahei Training – Te Anau
THIS COURSE IS FREE OF CHARGE

Time: 10.00am–3.00pm
CAD Level 1 – Te Anau
Date: Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th October 2026
Time: Saturday 1.30pm–4.00pm, Sunday 10.00am–3.00pm
The CAD Level 1 course is made up of modules covering sprints & Hurdles, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put and Discus
Individual modules are $15 each, or there is a flat fee of $50 if you attend four or more modules (including both days).
Athletics Southland will reimburse the cost once you have attended the course. Registered teachers are also welcome to attend, although reimbursement is only available to teachers who are actively coaching at the club.
To attend the CAD Level 1 course, you need to be registered as a Centre Volunteer, Community Coach or Accredited Coach. Registered teachers can also register using their teacher registration number.
If you are not yet registered or have not completed the police vetting process, you can still attend the course, but you will need to contact Chris Knight (chris.knight@athleticssouthland.co.nz) with your contact details so he can add you to the attendee list. You will receive your CAD Level 1 certificate once you have been approved as a coach/community coach.
All coaches, volunteers and officials must also have followed the process through the Fiordland Athletics Club website (https://www.fiordlandathleticsclub.com/safe-guarding).
