Keeping Our Athletics Community Safe

At Athletics Southland Incorporated and Fiordland Athletics Club, the safety, wellbeing and enjoyment of everyone involved in our athletics community is extremely important to us.

We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all athletes, families, coaches, officials, volunteers and committee members. We have safeguards in place to help protect everyone from physical, sexual or emotional abuse, harassment, bullying and discrimination, including racial discrimination.

As part of our commitment to keeping children and young people safe, all Fiordland Athletics Club members who work with children are required to be Police vetted in accordance with our safeguarding requirements.

We want every athlete and family to feel safe, respected, included and supported when they are part of our club. If you ever have a concern about the wellbeing or safety of yourself or someone else, we encourage you to speak with a coach, committee member or another trusted person within the club.

Below is the information and documentation we require from members of our community who will be working with children.

If you have any questions regarding filling these forms out, please get in touch with Jason (027 379 5607)

Step 1

It is important that you complete the Safeguarding Course on the World Athletics website before working with children through the club.

The course is straightforward and does not take long to complete, but it plays an important role in helping us create a safe and positive environment for everyone.

Safeguarding is about protecting our children and young people, but it also helps protect you as a coach, volunteer or club member by ensuring you understand your responsibilities and know how to respond appropriately to any concerns.

Please note that you can do as many of the courses you like, however, for this purpose, only the ‘Safeguarding Course’ needs to be completed.
